7 questions that help you recognise when menopause belongs in the clinical picture.

Working with women in their 40s and 50s?

Many mental health professionals were never taught how menopause can influence anxiety, depression, burnout, sleep, cognition or emotional wellbeing.

This practical one-page guide will help you recognise when menopause may be contributing to a client's presentation and prompt the conversations that are often missed during assessment.

Inside you'll discover:

âś” The 7 key questions to ask women in midlife

âś” When menopause should become part of your clinical formulation

âś” Practical prompts you can use immediately in your practice

âś” A simple first step towards menopause-informed psychological care.

I’m Simona Stokes, a Counselling Psychologist with 25+ years’ experience in mental health and founder of the Menopause CBT Clinic®.

My own menopause journey changed everything. It opened my eyes to the fact that traditional therapy approaches simply weren’t enough. Women in this transition need and deserve more - an approach that honours and reflects their lived experience.

That’s why in 2019 I developed the EMBERS® Menopause CBT Framework and coined the term Menopause-Informed Psychological Care to describe a new approach that places the menopausal context at the heart of therapeutic practice.

Since then:

- EMBERS® has been refined into a practical, step-by-step system that bridges CBT, neuroscience, and lifestyle medicine.

- I’ve supported hundreds of women through emotional difficulties like anxiety, low mood, and overwhelm caused by the menopausal transition.

- I’ve trained clinicians across the UK, Europe, North America, and Australia.

- Professionals who’ve trained with me are already applying it in clinical work and seeing powerful results.

I do not even think I can find the words to explain how Simona has helped me and how the tools that she taught me are still helping me now 6 months after my last meeting with her. Get help, I did, and I will never let myself try and handle things alone again.
