Initial Consultation

When contacting the Menopause CBT Clinic, we offer a free 15 min phone consultation to determine if we are the best service to meet your needs.
Following this free phone consultation, we can arrange an appointment for treating the menopause which may be face-to-face, online or by phone, depending on your preferences.
Appointments for menopause CBT are offered at different times of the day throughout the week. Following the initial consultation, further appointments will be arranged on a session-by-session basis to fit your needs.
Menopause CBT counselling sessions can be face-to-face at my office at Kings Court Centre in Birmingham/Solihull or online using Zoom, WhatsApp or FaceTime.
CBT for Menopause Consultation
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is one of the most proven psychological therapies and can be used to help you develop strategies to cope with the emotional and physical symptoms caused by the peri-menopause and menopause.
CBT for menopause helps increase awareness of how your thoughts, feelings and behaviours affect each other and how changing the way you think or respond to situations can change the way you feel.
National Institute for Health and Care Excellence guidelines (NICE) and Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) recommend GPs and other health professionals to give women going through the menopausal transition, information and advice about CBT.
It is recognised that CBT is effective in treating the menopause and helping overcome a range of emotional and physical difficulties that women encounter while navigating this stage of life.

EMDR for Menopause Consultation

Where there is a clear clinical need in individual sessions, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) can be used to deal with emotional blocks left by past events that have not been fully processed.
EMDR is a relatively new type of therapy that uses your own rapid eye movement to help process emotionally charged memories. This therapy has been extensively researched over the past 30 years and it has been proven to be an effective approach in dealing primarily with trauma.
Many clinicians have demonstrated positive outcomes using EMDR for a range of problems such as anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, depression, complicated grief and other emotional difficulties.
EMDR helps by removing the emotional charge associated with disturbing events from the past, allowing you to make sense of those events, reduce overwhelm and feel better.
